A New Chapter For Last Yard: Welcoming Scott Zucker As CEO

Thank you, Chris Stoyles, for twenty years. And welcome to Last Yard, Scott.

Leadership transitions are rarely just about a title changing hands. They’re a moment to look back at how far a company has come, and to be honest about the people who carried it there. Effective 1 July, Last Yard welcomes Scott Zucker as Chief Executive Officer, as Chris Stoyles steps down after two decades with the company, the last four as CEO.

Twenty years is most of Last Yard’s story, and Chris was there for nearly all of it. He grew up with the company, through engineering, product, and CTO roles, before taking the top job in 2021. Over those years, he and his team built Last Yard into the system most of Australia’s top retailers rely on to run their pricing and promotions, more than half of the country’s Top 50, including 5 of the Top 10. By working with the retail systems and data they already have in place, Last Yard gives them a single source of truth across every customer touchpoint, from paper tickets and shelf labels to digital signage, electronic shelf labels, and online channels, all in real time.

Today, Last Yard powers more than 10,000 stores and over 80 million price changes a month for Australia’s largest supermarket retailer, alongside names like JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman. That kind of foundation takes years to build and a particular kind of person to build it. Thank you, Chris, for two decades of care, conviction, and everything you gave this company.

Stepping into that role is Scott Zucker, who joins from Revionics, where he led the company’s push into AI. “Australia’s top retailers already trust Last Yard more than any other in-store publishing platform, and that’s a rare place to start,” he says. “My job now is to take a winning solution and grow it outside of Australia. That’s an exciting opportunity for me.”

Scott takes this on with the long-term backing of the Software Combined Group, which invests on a horizon of decades, not quarters. The opportunity ahead is global: room to grow well beyond Australia, into the US, LATAM, and EMEA, as retailers everywhere shift to electronic shelf labels and digital signage. “The retail industry is at a significant inflection point,” he says. “Retailers are moving away from traditional paper communication and racing to digitize every customer touchpoint. Last Yard will be at the center of this transformation.”

None of that changes what Last Yard has always been about: taking the complexity out of retail execution so store teams can trust what reaches the shelf. Chris built a company that does that well. Scott’s job, and ours alongside him, is to do it for more retailers, in more markets, than ever before. There is a great deal still to build, and we couldn’t be more glad to be building it with him.
